I suffered the consequences of social media and the modern American diet. I ended up here…

I began to see the big picture. It’s not just the food that is disrupting our health. It’s almost everything around us. We have moved so far away from traditional processes and lifestyles, in exchange for mass production, convenience, and customer demand. Thus exposing humans to a world we have never experienced before. It shows, too. The health crisis we are facing today is alarming.

I took a look at my own life, and I saw how these toxic foods, products, etc. were prominent within it. I had a lot of things to change. Over the course of two years, my knowledge progressed; my desire to be healthier grew; and the small changes I have made led the path.

It wasn’t just my diet that changed. It was my entire routine and lifestyle. It’s living consciously in this modern world, while trying to avoid its lies and toxicity. I don’t have any land. I don’t grow my own food. I just try my best to live as healthy a life as possible, in the ways that I can.

And here I am… using my love of writing to bring you pure and refreshing letters in the mail. Friend4Real is all about growth. In fact, writing these letters has brought my artistic side out.

Hi, my name is Savannah and I am 18 years old. I grew up in the United States, with access to all of the ultra-processed foods and toxic products that it has to offer.

I was 16 years old when I started to consider that this bowl of cereal I’m eating is more than just the number of calories.

For a few years up until this point, I had an unhealthy mindset regarding food. Diet culture and its misleading labels; social media, and the brain of a teenager don’t mix well.

With that being said, I was able to use the other side of social media to help rid myself of this mindset. Learning of the negative side effects that most modern foods provide after consumption really opened up my eyes.
